THE TEXAN NEWSPAPER
NOVEMBER 20. 1985
M.
edicine is more than expertise.
It’s an attitude.
You hear a lot about breakthroughs in medicine
these days.
Miracles of technology.
Wonder drugs.
Revolutionary treatments.
And it’s heartening to know that, given enough
time and money for research, medical science may someday
conquer disease and sickness. Certainly, at Sharpstown
General Hospital, our commitment is to reach that goal.
But amidst the hoopla surrounding the advances of
medical science that heal and cure, we wish to remind you
that the practice of medicine is more than science. It goes to
the very heart of the art of healing.
It is the compassion of one human being for another.
It is respect for the dignity of every life.
It is a simple willingness to help.
At Sharpstown General Hospital, we’ve given a name to
the members of our health care team.
Ambassadors of Health.
Like diplomats, they smooth the way for those
who find themselves in the hospital, a world foreign to their
everyday lives. By taking the complex, technological world
of modern medicine and making it understandable for
people needing help, our health care team
members demonstrate a true understanding
of the healing art. Ambassadors of Health
is not just our name, but our philosophy.
Because, while the practice of medicine is
in part, science, it is above all, the most
personal human service.
At Sharpstown General Hospital, we
haven't lost sight of what medicine is all about.
It’s more than expertise.
It’s an attitude.

Meyerland’s civic
club president was
misquoted in last week’s
Texan.
In a front-page story
entitled “Meyerland
loses again," The Texan
incorrectly quoted
MpyerlanH Cnmninn if.
Improvement Associa-
tion president William
Kendall saying that “for
the sale of about a third
of a billion dollars in real
estate value (the esti-
mated combined value
of the 2,315 homes in
Meyerland), it seems
like $20,000 to go to the
Supreme Court, if that is
what it cost, is worth it
to protect those values."
The quote should
have read: ‘‘For the
sake of about a third of a
billion dollars in real
estate value (the esti-
mated combined value
of the 2,315 homes in
Meyerland), it seems
like $20,000 to go to the
Supreme Court, if that is
what it costs, is worth it
to protect those values."
