Friends
gather at
reunions
Reunions
continued from A1
with iced tea to drink
and buttermilk pie for
dessert.
The tables were
adorned with centerpiec-
es, one of which Hender-
son took home with him.
And there, it wound
up in his attic, lost and
forgotten for decades,
until Henderson un-
earthed it when cleaning
out his mom’s attic.
The centerpiece -
with maroon and white
pipe cleaners and “hel-
mets” made out of styro-
foam balls, atop a board
painted green and white
representing the football
field - and small, ma-
roon-felt covered “pro-
grams” in the shape of
a football brought back
plenty of memories for
Henderson and his fel-
low BHS graduates in the
Class of 1968.
Amid much chat-
ting and merriment, the
members of that class
- celebrating their 45th
high school reunion to-
gether - joined the mem-
bers of the BHS gradu-
ating classes of 1973 and
1988 for their 40th and
25th class reunions, re-
spectively.
But members of those
classes weren’t the on-
ly ones in attendance.
All graduates from all
graduating classes were
welcome to attend, and
they did - from Esther
Wright, who graduated
in 1935, all the way up to
graduates from the ear-
ly 2000s.
BHS Class of 1966
graduate Sue Campbell
Moerck, who said her fa-
ther was the high school
principal “for years and
years,” was also in atten-
dance.
As the youngest, Moer-
ck grew up with a broth-
er, Tom, who graduat-
ed in 1960, and sister,
Jean, who graduated in
1957. She said what she
remembers most of her
time in high school was
the people.
“I enjoy the friend-
ships we have,” she said.
“Whenever our class gets
together, it’s like we’ve
never been apart.”
Seated together in the
back, members of the
Class of’73, including Er-
ic Carrejo, Michael Hilbig
and Sue Guerka, pored
over an old photo album.
“It’s good to see ev-
erybody,” Guerka said.
“It doesn’t seem like it’s
been 40 years, but it
has.”
