□chua accepts Maundbuilder Scholarship at Southwestern
WINFIELD, KANSAS—Elizabeth Ochoa of Canadian has accepted the Moundbuilder
Scholarship and plans to attend Southwestern College in the fall of 2013. She intends to major
in communications. The $4,000 scholarship for the academic year 2013-2014 is from the aca-
demic division of Southwestern College. “We know college is a time for some to explore ALL
their options rather than settling on one thing, and this $4,000 grant is for those people,” says
Marla Sexson, vice president for enrollment management at Southwestern. “It’s renewable
for up to four years ($16,000 total), to give time to study, think, look around, sample and choose
which (if any) activities are right for you.” For more information about Southwestern College,
contact Sexson at 620.229.6364. Southwestern College is a private institution granting under-
graduate and graduate degrees and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. About
1,700 students attend classes at the main Winfield campus, at six professional studies sites in
Kansas and Oklahoma, or online around the world.

U.S. Congressional Art Competition now accepting entries
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Are you, your child, or someone you know a budding artist who would
like to see their work displayed in the United States Capitol? The office of U.S. Congressman
Mac Thornberry (TX-13) is now taking submissions from area high school students for the
2013 Congressional Art Competition. The competition features one winner from each congres-
sional district and territory in the United States. Each winner’s artwork will be displayed for
one year in the United States House of Representatives. The contest is open to any public, pri-
vate, or home-schooled high school student living in the 13th Congressional District of Texas.
Submissions will be selected by an independent jury of educators and art professionals from
the 13th district. The winning student will be invited to attend the opening celebration of the
Congressional Art Competition in Washington, D.C. Interested high school students should
call Congressman Thornberry’s office (202.225.3706) or visit his webpage (http://thornberry.
house.gov/art) for more on competition guidelines and a description of how to submit your en-
try. The deadline for entries is Friday, April 19,2013. #11
