Applying for Financial Aid
Applying for Financial Aid is the single
most important step you can take to further
your education. In return for applying and be-
ing eligible, what can Financial Aid do for
you? Our largest program, the Pell Grant,
can pay your tuition and fees plus provide
money for other educational expenses.
Since the beginning of the Fall semester,
our office has processed and paid over 1400
students through the Pell grant Program.
With the Pell Grant form (Student Aid
Report), our office is able to determine what
other aid a student is eligible to receive such
as College Workstudy, Scholarships, Grants
and Loans.
We have placed over 300 students through
the College Workstudy Program. Our loans

include institutional as well as government
loans.
To receive or qualify for these programs,
two forms must be in our office so we may
determine what the student is eligible for.
One is the Pell Grant Student Aid Report
which the student receives after applying.
Processing of the application takes about 6-8
weeks, so it is important to apply early so
that the student has sufficient time to submit
the report to our office prior to the beginning
of the semester. The other is the St. Philip’s
College Financial Aid Application. Financial
Aid is available and if you have any questions
concerning financial aid, come by or call. We
are on the first floor of the Bowden Building
and our phone number is 531-3272.

“What you don’t know doesn’t hurt you,
except during an examination”. Tests are a
part of life. There is no escaping them. You
will face a test of one sort or another all the
time. As a student you will be tested many
times, whether it will be a quiz or a final. Ob-
viously, the best preparation for tests is to
study!
Here are a few suggestions for taking tests:
1. Have a positive attitude: remind yourself
that tests are an ordinary routine in college.
2. Find out what kind of test will be given.
3. Know what the test will cover.
4. Get books, notes, and any other
materials together.
5. Follow directions and glance over all
questions before you begin to answer them.
6. Do not cram the night before the test.
7. Get a normal amount of sleep everyday,
(what’s normal for you).
8. GOOD LUCK ON “FINALS”
