GRAND OPENING RIBBON CUTTING
Thursday, May 17 - The Shelby County Chamber
of Commerce Ambassadors welcomes the public to
the grand opening ribbon cutting of The Party Center
with owners Richard and Rita Hughes at 118 Nacog-
doches Street. Come and view the large variety of
party supplies. Refreshments will be served. For more

TIMPSON MASONIC LODGE
On Thursday May 17 at our monthly Stated Meeting
of Timpson Lodge #437 we will present 3 members with
the 25 years service award. This is a “Closed Meeting”,
but all area M.M., F.C. and E.A. Masons are encouraged
to attend. A covered dish meal will be served at 6:30
p.m. Please plan to attend to help congraluate, these
three Brothers.
CAR WASH & BAKE SALE
Saturday, May 19 - Tenaha Seniors will hold a car
wash & cake sale from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Tenaha
Car Wash for project graduation.
ARCADIA HOMECOMING
Saturday, May 19 - The Arcadia-Powdrill Cemetery
homecoming will be held beginning at 12:00 noon.
This annual event takes place on the Arcadia picnic
grounds beside the Newbem Masonic Lodge on FM
138, immediately adjacent to Greg Grant’s dogtrot
family home. Dinner on the grounds will take place
so bring your family, favorite dish, chairs for sitting,
cemetery contributions, and memories of Arcadia. Ar-
cadia was founded around 1887 and was once home to
several schools and churches, a post office, barber shop,
blacksmith, cotton gin, saw mill, and even a baseball
field. Those unable to attend can mail their Powdrill
Cemetery upkeep contributions to Rita Hairgrove, 1384
CR 4260, Timpson, Texas 75975.
COUNTRY MUSIC HAYRIDE
Saturday, May 19 - presenting, “Grateful Life.” Show
starts at 7 PM — admission is $6. Located in the Esquire
Theater - one half block off the Carthage square.
TENAHA MASONIC LODGE
Saturday, May 19 - Tenaha Masonic Lodge will
honor Aaron Glen Thompson with the Golden Trowel
award. We wll have a covered dish dinner at 6:30 PM
. All Masons and friends of Glen’s are invited. FMI:

5:15 PM at the Tenaha Community Center.

Monday, May 21 - Timpson OES #1144 will have
our regular Stated Meeting on Jan., 16th, 2012. Meal

LUNCHEON
Thursday, May 24 - bimonthly meeting will be held
at 11:30 AM at the Whistle Stop.
DETCOG TO HOLD 43RD ANNUAL
MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Thursday, May 24 - The Deep East Texas Council of
Governments Board of Directors will hold their 43rd
Annual Membership Meeting and Awards Luncheon at
the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin. A luncheon
will be served at noon with the awards presentation to
follow. Special guest speaker for the luncheon will be
Texas State Senator-Dist. 3, Robert Nichols. In addi-
tion to the noon awards luncheon, at 10 am there will
be a “Chapter 60” reporting requirements workshop.
At 11 am there will be a “9-1-1 The Next Genera-
tion” workshop. An exhibit room will also be open
to guest. DETCOG would like to extend an invitation
to the public to attend this awards luncheon. Anyone
needing additional information may contact the Deep
East Texas Council of Governments offices in Jasper
at (409) 384-5704.

Thursday, May 24 - monthly meeting will be at 5 PM
at the Timpson Public Library.
MASONIC COMMUNITY BUILDER
AWARD
On Friday May 25, 2012 at 6:30 p.m., Timpson
Lodge #437 will present the Community Builder Award
to Mr. Douglas McDonald. This award is presented to
a “Non-Mason” that lives in the community, who has
given of their self and their time, to improve the commu-
nity. Mr. McDonald was chosen for this award, because
of his life time effort in those endeavors. The receiver
of this award is chosen by a committee of local Masons
that are familiar with the history of the people of the
Timpson area. Friends and Family of Mr. McDonald are
asked to join us in an “Open Meeting to Honor” him,
with a meal at 6:30 p.m. and the award presentation
afterwards. The meeting will be at the Timpson Masonic
Lodge on Washington Street. Anyone that may have a
humorous story or good experiences with or about Mr.
McDonald will have the opportunity to speak.
SENIOR CITIZENS’
LUNCH & GIFTO
Tuesday, May 29 - Timpson First United Methodist
Church will hold its regular lunch for senior citizens
at 11:30 AM followed by GIFTO games. Open to all
senior citizens, please come for a free lunch, fellowship,
& games.
MYERS FAMILY REUNION
Saturday, Jun 9 - The Ninth Myers Family Reunion
will be at Ramah Baptist Church, beginning around
10am, bring a covered dish and plan on a day of catch-
ing up on the happenings of the past year.
