Special to the Tribune
KERENS-Kerens In-

trict superintendent
Kevin Stanford was able
to show what it means to
be a Bobcat at the ESC

rum April 24 when he
presented a $895 check
that will be supporting
West ISD.
The check was pre-
sented on behalf of the
entire school district and

up after the tragic explo-
sion on April 17.
Stanford wrote about
the experience in a letter
send to Kerens ISD fac-

it to The Kerens Tribune.
“I am very proud of
our entire district and
community for the sup-
port shown to West ISD,”
Stanford said in the state-
ment.
The gift from Kerens
will be part of a fund
from all participating
ESC 12 schools. The fi-
nancial officer for ESC
12 will deposit the funds
in a bank in West.
Dr. Marty Crawford,
superintendent of West
ISD, was at the meeting
and shared heart-
wrenching stories regard-
ing the explosion and the
impact it is having on the
community and district.
He expressed great
appreciation for the
prayers and support
lifted to West and West
ISD.
Stanford concluded by
thanking everyone and
said, “We live and work
in a wonderful place. It’s
a great day to be a Bob-
cat!”
