THE ALAMO’S NEW EVENING LOOK — T.iis is the view which evening visitors to
the Alamo are now seeing in San Antonio. The famed ‘‘Shrine of Texas Liberty' and
Alamo Cenotaph are now illuminated by a lighting system donated by General
Electric and installed by the City of San Antonio in cooperation with the Daugh-
ters of the Republic of Texas. The lighting is on from dusk to 11 p. m. every evening
at the Alamo.
Mrs. J. W. McFadden who
has been a patient in Reagan
Memorial Hospital several
times in the past year, was
flown to New Orleans, La. to
the Ochsner Foundation Hos-
pital to receive further medi-
cal attention under the care
of urologists. Accompanying
her and Mr. McFadden was
their daughter-in-law, Mrs.
David McFadden of Abilene.
David went on to Houston to
pick up Mrs. Archie Maxwell
and Miss Mary Lou McFad-
den, the couple’s two daugh-
ters, for a brief stay with
their parents in New Orleans

Hints for the
Homemakers . . .
Rv Mrs. Lou Jeffers
County HD Agent
Sewing hints and helps can
be learned through teaching
young 4-H members.
Getting the most from your
sewing machine is one of the
first steps in training the
young 4-H member. Do you
use your machine for all the
techniques it was made to do?
The straight stitch can do
much more than the straight
stitch.
Do your darts always have a
bubble at the peak? Can you
make the one thread dart, so
useful in knits, sheers and
light weight fabrics?
Of course you know how to
thread your machine but do
you know the care it needs to
keep it in perfect running or-
der? It is an expensive piece
of machinery. You do have a
great deal of money invested
in it. Is it paying you divi-
dends?
It would be a learning pro-
cess for you to be a 4-H
Clothing Leader. The rewards
would be greater than the
time and energy you put into
leadership.
Your district 6, 4-H Dress
Revue will be in McCamey.
July 15. Your county dress
revue will be July 1, in Ran-
kin.
Girls 9 to 18 are eager to
learn how to sew. Won’t you
volunteer as a leader of six
girls?

The Young Married Set enjoys fine weather all
summer with their Paramount Evaporative Cooler.
Exclusive with a Paramount are the "No-Clog,
Sta Fresh" filters, made of rich redwood combined
with clean, white aspen. "Sta Fresh" filters have
a dual mesh construction. The outside coarse mesh
prevents clogging and plugging yet provides a
minimum of air resistance and a maximum of
clean, cool, fresh air. The fine inner mesh offers
complete protection from insects and keeps fibers
from protruding into the cooler.
