General Notice.—This Piano
Contest will be conducted on,purely
business principles, with fairness
co all, and for the purpose of as-
sisting ourselves by increasing our
(Subscription list, helping the con-
testants by giving valuable prizes,
and benefiting our subscribers by
maintaining a first-class county
paper.
Prizes.—(1) The contestant re-
ceiving the highest number of votes
will be awarded the handsome $350
Kohler & Campbell Piano. (2)
The next five receiving the highest
number of votes will receive a $100
certificate from the Oliver’s Music
House, which will be good for face
value on the payment of a piano if
purchased from them within 10
days after the close of the contest.
Candidates.—Any lady, mar-
ried or single, in Polk county, is
permitted to enter this contest for
a $350 Kohler & Campbell piano.
The Votes.—Six months, either
back subscription, renewal or new
subscriber, by one person, at same
time, with 50 cents, 200 votes; oue
year, either back subscription, re-
newal or new subscriber, by oue
person,- at same time, with $1.00
cash, 50,0 votes; two years, either
back subscription, renewal or new
subscriber, by one person at same
time, with $2.00 cash, 1200 votes;
three years, either back-subscrip-
tion, renewal or new subscriber, by
one person, at sam^lime, with
$3.00 cash, 2,000 votes; four years,
either back subscription, renewal
or new subscriber, by one person,
at same time, with $4.00 cash,
2,900 votes; five years, either back
subscription, renewal or new sub-
scriber, by one person, at same
time, with $5.00 cash, 4,000 votes;
ten years, either back subscription,
renewal or new subscriber, by one
person, at same time, with $10.00
cash, 9,000 votes. We reserve the
right to add different classes of
votes and modify the rules for other
prizes to be offered.
Special Rules. — No commis-
sions will be aliowe<J to any one for
I moneys collected during this con-
test
Votes-, after being once voted,
can not be transferred to another.
The publishers will not tell how
any one votes or give the standing
of any candidate other than when
the general standing of- all candi-
dates are published.
The names of all candidates will
be published each week after they
have been nominated, and their
general standing will be published
from time to time during the prog-
ress of the contest. —
Upon payment of subscriptions
direct to the publisher during this
contest, they will be given certifi-
cates of votes entitled to in accord-
ance with amounts paid in, either
to be voted by them or turned over «,
to any contestant, who may vote
them, but the publisher will posi-
tively not indicate or suggest which
candidate to vote sor.
Free voting coupons will be pub-
lished from time to time during
this contest.
