B. F. Shively, of South Bend, Indi
ana’s recently elected democratic
United States senator, aftd Mi;s. Shive-
ly were the guests of honor at a re-
ception in the Oliver hotel given by
the South Bend Chamber of Com-
mirce. The reception was public and
several hundred prominent citizens
from South Bend and other parts
of northern Indiana were present. Re-
grets were received from President
Roosevelt, Vice-President Fairbanks,
Senator Hemenway, Senator Bever-
idge, Gov. Marshall and others.
The hotel was beautifully decorated.

Daughter of C. H. Saxon Diet in Lake

Mrs. Mary Andrews, aged 39 years,
wife of T, D, Andrews, a prominent
citizen of Lake Charles, La., and a
daughter of C. H. Saxon, a pioneer
resident of Orange, died at 11 o'clock
last night at her home 125 N’ix street
in I.ake Charles, after a several days’
illness of typhoid fever.
The remains were brought to Or-
ange this noon cm the Oriole, accom-
panied by Goldie Saxon, a brpther
of the deceased, who went over to
Lake Charles ibis morning, and Mr.
Andrew* and two children.
The funeral service* will be con-
ducted from the residence of C.. If
Saxon tomorrow morning at 10:00
o'clock, the remains being interred in
Evergreen cemetery.
Deceased leaves a husband, and two
sons, Joe, aged 17, and Iamis, aged
15, to mourn their toss.
