Washington a nice choice for McMurry
Livingston’s Caleb Washington

IVINGSTON-
Calcb Washington, a 2008 May
graduate of Livingston High
School, is not only a great ath-
lete, hut a tine young man.
Lion Country head football
Coach Randy Rowe did his best
to keep Caleb around for an-
other football season starting in
early August. Caleb is the kind
of studcnt/athlctc all coaches
dream of coachim;. He is a
champion.
Caleb, 18, is the son of
Dana and Otis Washington of
Livingston. He is among the
pride of Lion Country.
Come early August. All-District
and All-Deep Last Texas defen-
sive back Washington, a 5-foot-
II. 175-pound college freshman-
to-be, will be heading for
McMurry University of Abilene,
Texas, to play football for the
Indians.
McMurry University is a mem-
ber of the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference.
“When I toured McMurry, I
visited with Coach (Donny)
Gray and members of his staff. I
was impressed with the Univer-
sity's football program, " Wash-
ihgton said, who is a three year
letterman for the Lions. "I'm
looking forward playing out
there."
Washington was a key player
on defense for the Lions last fall
that advanced to the state UIL
Class 4A, Division II, playoffs.
The Lions defeated Manor, 42
to 13, in bi-district; beat Houston
Washington, 30 to (I; and lost to
Dayton, 43 to 0, in Regional III.
“We had a lot of fun last
year,” said Washington. "We
proved with hard work and
playing as a team that we could
be winners. We played with so
much pride”
Washington came through the
Livingston junior high program.
Worked as a quarterback and
defensive back his freshman,
sophomore, junior and senior
years.
“I love playing on defense and
the coaches at McMurry believe
I can play a lot my freshman
year," he said.
During his senior year he had
55 tackles, 29 assists, caused
three fumbles, recovered one fum-
ble and intercepted four passes
The Lions of 2007 posted a 10-
3 record and 5-2 in District 18-
AAAA.
Cable has one brother, Tyler,
who will turn 13-ycars-old in Au-
gust.
