Key joins Precinct 4
race for constable
From Page 1A
He plans to serve the
communityby increasing
neighborhood patrols, which
help act as a deterrent in
preventing crime.
Key said he also plans to
work diligently with other law
enforcement entities to help
battle crime and drugs in our
area, as well as increasing
routine traffic enforcement.
Additionally, he plans on
working in conjunction with
the other elected constables
and Commissioner’s Court
to improve the office of
constable to help ensure that
our community’s needs are
met.
Key, and his wife, Jill, have
been married for nine years, and
between them they have five
children and one grandchild.
As a father, he understands the
importance of raising framily
in a safe community.
“Protecting and being active
in our community should be
our number one priority to
help ensure our children’s
future,” Key said. Which is
why Key has been involved in
several different organizations
throughout the years, such as
FFA and 4H.
“I am grateful for the
opportunity to have been
serving our law enforcement
community for the past 22
years and have enjoyed it
immensely,” Key said. “I
understand the position of
constable is an important
position which requires
dedication. Therefore, I am
asking the voters of Precinct
4 to vote for Bobby Key for
constable."

treatment from the Polk County
Sheriff’s Office personnel,”
Hammack said.
“We have updated our computer
system and database, which is a must
in the law enforcement area this day
and time. We also went online with
a web page, which includes the Polk
County Wise Eye Program. The
Polk County Wise Eye Program
is a modem day Neighborhood
Watch program, utilizing e-mail
for two-way communications with
the sheriff’s office, and one on one
communication between deputies
and the citizens of Polk County,”
Hammack said..
‘To increase visibility of law
enforcement throughout the 1,050
square miles of territory we have
implemented a pilot program where
patrol vehicles are equipped with
laptop computers, which allow
deputies to complete reports from
the field,” Hammack said.
‘The laptop computers allow
the deputies to remain in his/her
assigned area and not have to return
to the Sheriff’s Office to complete
necessary reports. This will
increase the deputies’ visibility and
will give them fingertip access to
investigative web sites while staying
in the field. Without the laptop
computers a deputy could be away
from his assigned area over an hour,
depending on the type of offense
he/she is reporting. The use of the
laptops will assist with more law
enforcement visibility throughout
the county.
Other changes made in the past
three years which has increased staff
productivity was the addition of an
automated fingerprint system (live
scan finger print system) computer
upgrades in the jail, which include
enhanced photo imagining and
video cameras for increased security
inside and outside the detention area,
Hammack added.
The Polk County Juvenile
Probation Office applied for and
received a grant to install equipment
at the Polk County Jail and other
Polk County Offices, where video
court can be conducted without the
movement of inmates from the jail
to the courthouse; thus limiting the
number of inmates transported to
the bourthouse fob County Court.! 'i!
A third dispatch console has
been added to allow an additional
communications operator to assist
with calls when needed, he said.
“Most of the above noted
equipment was purchased through
' grants, which I promised to search
for when first running for Sheriff,”
Hammack said.
‘The Polk County Sheriff’s
Office will continue to aggressively
combat the drug issues throughout
the county, including working with
other law enforcement agencies. We
have implemented a standardized
Field Training Officers Program,
which all new hires must complete
during a probation period. This
ensures that each new hire becomes
familiar with the county, the
policies and procedures of the Polk
County Sheriff’s Office, paperwork
required and displays the ability to
adequately handle situations before
being released for duty.
“We have also developed a staff-
training group forad vance training of
our personnel and any other agencies
in the Polk County area that wish to
take advantage of the training. Each
officer who attends the training will
receive state training credits which
will assist them in meeting, their
continuing education requirements.
The new training program helps to
enhance our training dollars.
“We have implemented Interview
Boards for the hiring of new staff
and for promoting eligible staff
members which have given us better
qualified personnel throughout the
agency.
“We have implemented services
for inmates attempting to reduce
the rate of return by providing anger
management, women’s abuse and
conflict resolution classes along
with a G.E.D. program,” Hammack
said.
“The Polk County Sheriff’s Office
has accomplished a lot and I am
extremely proud to be a part of this
agency. I believe I have given the
office of the Sheriff of Polk County
the respect it deserves. I possess
the qualifications, knowledge and
desire to represent the citizens of
Polk County. I have the desire
to continue to develop the Polk
County Sheriff’s Office into a more
efficient, professional and trusted
group of dedicated employees that
the citizens of Polk County deserve.
I am asking the citizens of Polk
County for their continued support
and vote.”
