Gardener of the Week
by Reagan Garden Club
In awarding the Gardener of
the Week sign for the last time
this season, Reagan Garden Gub
is glad to recognize the progress
made in landscaping our County
Courthouse. Surely everyone
has noticed the great improve-
ments made there. The lawn is
fresh and green, almost all old
shrubs have been removed and
replaced, and the view of the
front of the building is much
improved. This project is slated
to continue for another year or
two, but it already looks like a
different place.
Our congratulations to Judge
Sandel, Commissioner Ralph
Duesing and the other Commis-
sioners, County Agent Brent
Drennan, and to Ysidro and Paul
(who do the maintenance very
well).
We have heard many favorable
comments on the landscaping
and on our flower bed in front of
the library. Reagan Garden
Club is proud to be part of this
project.

lord to 5-2 when they edged the
I Stanton Buffaloes JV 7-6 in a
| game played in Stanton last
I Thursday night. The outcome of
lthe game was not determined
I until the final 29 seconds of the
| contest.
The Owls had numerous scor-
ing opportunities stopped in the
first half, as they hurt their scor-
ing chances with four lost fum-
bles. Stanton's JV could man-
age little more offensively, as
they turned the ball over to the
Owls twice on pass interceptions
by Owls Scott Lipsey and Chad
Rader.
The game remained scoreless
until the opening minutes of the
fourth quarter when James West
raced around the end for a 26
yard TD. West added the extra
point kick to give the Owls a 7-0
lead.
Stanton took the kickoff and
drove the ball 54 yards in 15
plays. Their touchdown came
with just 29 seconds remaining in
the game. Stanton went for the
2-point conversion on a pass
which fell incomplete. The Owls
recovered an onside kick and ran
out the remaining seconds to
take the victory.
