erty values increase over
the years that is reported in
May and June and the school
district can then set a lower
tax rate in August when it
sets the annual budget. The
graph (above tax rates) from
prior years showed how in-
creased property values acts
upon tax rates.
In the question and answer
session the question of child
security was revisited and
the architect's representative
Jeremy Zimmerman of Scott
and Strong, explained that
the remodels will enclose all
open areas of the campus and
funnel all visitors into one
administrative area on both
campuses, and that children
will not being going outside
to gym or class rooms.
Another question; what
are the time tables and plans
for making the changes;
Supt. Redden answered; the
architect will need four to
five months to develop plans
and specifications and then
10 to 12 months to complete
construction. No architectural
work has been performed pri-
or to the bond issue passing.
Another question was how
long before the next changes
are needed. Supt. Redden
answered the he believes
these additions will carry the
district for at least the next
10 years, based on student
growth patterns seen in OISD
in recent years.
In addition'to Linda
Vincent, two school board
members were in attendance.
Brandon Smith and Dennis
Hodge, they offered to an-
swer any questions that visi-
tors had after the meeting.
