STATE COMMANDER.
Of the Macabees Delivered Address
to Local Hive Last Night
The entertainment at the Knights of
Maccabees hall last night was a grand
.nieces and was enjoyed by all. The
attendance was lighter than it would
have been had the weather been more
- favorable. '
An address was delivered by State
Commander J. B. Sawtell, of Waco.
The* speaker is well posted on fratcr-
nalism and his arguments in favor of
the Knights of the Macabees. were
convincing, and the local hive will
doubtless realize a boost from his ef-
forts.
After the address, the Ladies and
Knights served delightful refresh-
ments to those present.
r. Sawtell left on tjie morning
for his home at Waco.
When the Fairies are Noiay.
Among the flowers which are said
to be very popular with fairies are
blue-bells, hare-bells and wood sor-
rel. All these flowers attract the at
tention of their friends who are a
little distance. If y<hs are out in the
woods when the blue-bell or wood
sorrel begins to peal 'in delicate, soft
tones you will know that the little
flower is being swayed to and fro by
some visiting fairy. The foxglove
known as the fairy bells, are also S*i<
to be used by the fairies for chimes
but when'* the little people wish tc
sound a real resounding blast that
shall awaken from slumber some tiny
friend in a near-by flower bed
thicket they use not a bell, but a rose
leaf rolled up into a very charming
horn.
