Construction crews work hard pouring the foundation for the new Spanish Trail Assisted
Living Center in Silsbee. The facility is set to open early summer of 2013.
Spanish Trail Senior Living
Center off to a good start
By Andrea Whitney
reporter @ silsbeebee.com
Construction is well under-
way for the Spanish Trail As-
sisted Living Facility and
those involved could not be
more pleased.
The foundation for the facil-
ity was poured Wednesday,
December 21, and the con-
struction is progressing
swiftly.
Jason Caraway, a Silsbee
native with strong family ties
within the business commu-
nity, realized the need for a
senior living facility in Silsbee
and felt that this was a way he
could give back to the town
and community that gave so
much to him.
Caraway stated that two rea-
sons were at the forefront of
his mind and his heart when
planning the center. The first
reason is the need.
"There is a huge need for
this type of facility in Sils-
bee," said Caraway. We want
to be able to keep Silsbee sen-
ior residents from having to
travel to Beaumont or even
further. We want to keep them
here in Silsbee. That means
the world to us."
The second is the fact that
Caraway himself is personally
connected to Silsbee and its
residents and wants to give
back to the community that
gave him so much. Caraway
stated that Silsbee is home for
him and this has become a
very personal and exciting
journey. A journey that will
not only benefit his family but
will also hopefully benefit
many other families over the
years.
Caraway contracted Mcln-
nis construction to handle the
building of the facility. The
Spanish Trail Assisted Living
Facility had their official
groundbreaking ceremony on
November 7. Work began im-
mediately on the facility and
is still on schedule to open its
doors early summer of 2013.
The facility will have 16
rooms/beds and will be fully
equipped with everything to
allow senior residents to enjoy
their golden years in a state of
the art facility, here in Silsbee.
Senior residents often traveled
to Beaumont or even Houston
to find a comfortable facility.
Caraway has contracted
with doctors, nurses, home
health agencies, physical and
occupational therapists, and
other providers to ensure all
medical and healthcare needs
will be met should the need
arise.
With the construction mov-
ing along, Caraway Company
will begin staffing the facility
in February of 2013 and de-
posits for rooms will be ac-
cepted beginning in January.
"All of us involved in this
project were so excited to see
our foundation being poured,"
said Caraway. "I cannot tell
you how pleased I am with the
construction company and
everyone involved. It has gone
extremely smooth and we are
so pleased with the reception
of the community and the in-
terest that the public has
shown. This is a venture that
will hopefully help our com-
munity and those in it. Not
only the senior residents, but
also the surrounding commu-
nity with jobs and opportu-
nity."
