The Pine Burr Chapter of Am-
erican Business Women’s Associa-
tion and the School of Business
Administration of Lamar State
College of Technology will spon-
sor a Business Women’s Seminar
beginning October 17, at 7:30
p-. m. at the Heritage Room, Sils-
bee State Bank, Silsbee, Texas.
The course will run four consecu-
tive Tuesday nights; October 17,
24, 31, November 7, and will
consist of two one-hour lectures.
Courses to be included in the
seminar are; English usage, letter
writting, office procedures, work
organization, office etiquette,
and- how to get more out of life.
Lecturers will be Miss Nancy
Darsey, assistant professor, Lamar
State College of Technology, Mrs.
Jeannette Vaughn,- assistant pro-
fessor, Lamar State College of
Technology, and Mrs. Dorothy
Rickey, author, lecturer, radio
and TV personality.

James Phelps, 16, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Phelps of Lumberton
is reported to be in satisfactory
condition in St. Elizabeth Hos-
pitalwhere he is recovering from
severe head lacerations suffered
in a two-car collision on the Be-
aumont-Silsbee Highway near
the Elementary School last Thurs-
day morning. Phelps suffered
the loss of his left eye in the ac-
cident. Hurt in the same accid-
ent was Mikeal Mahair, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Troy Mahair and
Mrs. Molly Dor re 11, all of Lum-
berton. Both were reported in
satisfactory condition at St. Eli-
zabeth Hospital.
Funeral services were held Satur-
day at 10 a. m. for Mrs. Stella
Blanche Wheeler, 64, of Kountze
in the First Methodist Church of
Kountze with the Rev. Jim Craw-
ford officiating. Burial was in
Old Hardin Cemetery. Among
local survivors are a son, Mike
Wheeler of Lumberton.

He and his family have moved
here from Houston.
The annual Turkey Shoot is be-
ing held each Sunday from 1:00
p. m. until dark at the Ball Park
on the Kountze highway. Pro-
ceeds go to the Lumberton Fire
Department for needed equip-
ment.
Funeral services for L. M. Parker,
82, of Chance Cut-off Road in
Lumberton were held at 10 a. m.
Tuesday in Fletcher Emanuel
Baptist Church with the Rev. He-
nry Shettles officiating. Burial
was in Hooks Cemetery. Surviv-
ing are his wife, Elsie, four dau -
ghters, Mrs. Lavilla Skeet.of La-
fayette, La., Mrs. Evelyn Webb
of Port Arthur, Mrs. Nell Brous-
sard of New Iberia, La., and Mrs.
Elsie Jo Woodard of Beaumont;

nice Britt and Mrs. Veryl Red-
mon, teachers in West Hardin
High School, attended the South
Pacific musical play at the Mu-
sic Theatre in Houston, Saturday,
October 7. They spent the night
with friends in Houston and re-
turned home the next day.
A revival meeting will beheld
in the First Baptist Church in
Saratoga starting Sunday October
8 and continuing through Octo-
ber 15. Services will beheld
twice daily at 10:00 a. m. and
7:30 p.m. Brother Chuck Willis
will be the evangelist and Broth-
er Fred Hobbs the song leader.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lewis and
daughter Margaret of Houston
were weekend guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Hunt.
Mr. and Mrs. B. Coon of Vidor
and children were Sunday guests
in the home of his parents Mr.
and Mrs. W. C. Coon.

parents Mr. and Mrs. M. Hobden.
Mr. and Mrs. Lige Hoffman are
making a trip to Warren to see
about drilling a water well at
the home of his sister, Mrs. Mae
Hoffman.
Two Big Thicketters from Okla-
homa are spending a few days
camping on the Big Thicket gr-
ounds in Saratoga. They are an-
xious to get a picture of the
Ivory Bill Woodpecker. Mrs.
Geraldine Watson and daughters
of Silsbee visited with them Sat-
urday.
Special services will be held
Sunday morning, October 15, at
the First Methodist Church start-
ing at 11:00 a. m. Guest speak-
er will be a Layman from Ana-
huac Methodist Church.

Timmy Trahan of Beaumont
