The Center Roughriders made
a game of it until the offensive
might of the Silsbee Tigers
exploded for three TDs in the
third quarter to give the Tigers
a comma nding 26 -0 lead at
the start of the final period.
The victory was the third of
the season for the Tigers and
the loss was the second in three
ioutings for the Roughriders.
The home team's first and
only score of the first half
came when quarterback Bill
Bcllenger circled end from two
yards out. The attempted
placement was blocked and
the teams left the field of
intermission with Silsbee in
front 6-0.
The Tigers offense began hit-
ting in the third quarter, with
the home team taking the open-
ing kickoff in the second half
and moving 76 yards in nine
plays for the score. Halfback
Doyle Brown spinted 20 yards
up the mddle for the scoye and
center Nelson Flanagan’s kick
made it 13-0, Silsbee.
Only moments later the Tig-
ers scored again, this time
when Jimmy King, defensive
halfback, intercepted a Center
pass and traveled 42 yards for
the score. Flanagan’s second
successful kick of the night
put the Tigers ahead 20-0.
Third score in the quarter for
Silsbee came with Collins
crashing over from the four.
Center broke into the scoring
column in the final quarter when
fullback O'Neil Jackson
plunged over center to cap a
64-yard drive. The placement
was unsuccessful.
Final Silsbee score came after
a 71-yard drive following the
kickoff w h e n halfback Ted
O’Dell went over from the two.
