but there are valuable items
throughout Texas that should and
could be assembled far this
project.
The story of the Big Thicket,
past as well as present, is a great
story that needs to be told and to
be preserved for ourselves and
future generations of Hardin
County Citizens and visitors.
This County has done nothing
to promote tourist or historical
interest. Someone needs to start
the movement. No community
could do it better than Saratoga,
a town whose own history is a
great epic in itself.

the 18th of September. Mrs.
Vandver's birthday will be the
30th of September. He was 70
and she will be 64. They were
served die joint birthday party
September 19th in the home of
her daughter Mr. and Mrs.
Marshall Kellum.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Vandver
have seven children, thirty-five
grandchildren, and ten great
grandchildren. They were sur-
prised with a large supper and
many nice gifts.

again. It is hot weather again.
The few cool days we had sure
was nice.
Mrs, Shirly Cherry was hon-
ored with a stork shower, Fri-
day, Sept. 18th, Those attend-
ing were, Mrs. J. L. McDon-
ald, Mrs. H, Ener, Mrs,
Helen Patterson, Mrs. Thelma
Itson, Mrs. R, L. Roth, Mrs,
Dewey Griffin, Mrs. Johnnie
Ambrose, Mrs. Donna Sue
Crawford, Mrs. H. L. Cherry,
Sr., Mrs. Merel Henderson,
Mrs. C. C. McDonald, Mrs.
Geo. W. Simpson.
Hostesses were Mrs. H. L.
Cherry, Jr., and Mrs. Richard
Fregia.
Refreshments were coffee,
cake, and cool-aid.Mrs. Cher-
ry received many nice and use-
ful gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. George Simpson
and nephew, Richard Taylor of
Buna visited Mrs. Simpson's bro-
ther and family, Loyd Taylor of
Rock Port from Sept. 4 thru 7th.
They had a wonderful time and
enjoyed it very much.
