Name: Martin and Jody Thames
Permanent home: Minnetonka, Minn.
Where do you stay in Port Aransas? Coral Cay
Occupation(s) before retirement? Martin taught chemistry at
Minnetonka High School and Jody was a substitute teacher in the
same district.
How did you find out about Port Aransas? We found Port
Aransas on the Imternet and decided to take a chance. We stayed at
another condominium for two years and then found a heated pool
at Coral Cay.
How many years have you been spending winters in Port
Aransas? This is our seventh year here.
How long do you stay in Port Aransas? We stay from mid-
December until early March.
What attracts you to Port Aransas? It's in Texas. Martin was
born and raised in Texas and has three sisters living in east Texas,
so we see the family, and the friendly atmosphere here at Coral Cay.
How do you spend your time in Port Aransas? We spend much
of our time im Texas relaxing. Martin walks on the beach and Jody
plays bridge and swims. We also catch up on seeing the movies in
Corpus Christi. Martin spends time at the Computer Center
helping with teaching and sets up the coffee every Monday morning
at Coral Cay.
Memorable moment in Port Aransas: We like to see the dolphins
jumping in the channel.
Name a person(s) Jother than your host(s) at your accommo-
dations] who makes your stay in Port Aransas more pleasant
and keeps you coming back. Frank and Betty Prochaska, Isabelle
and Herb Freeberg, B.H. and Lois Casey in Corpus Christi and all
our friends at Coral Cay.

Gardner,
Phillips vows
recited Dec. 28
Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Gardner of
Port Aransas are announcing the
marriage of their daughter, Linda,
to Frederick Phillips of Chicago.
The marriage took place in the
Chapel on the Dunes in Port
Aransas on Dec. 28, with Nueces
County Justice of the Peace Janice
Stoner officiating.
A number of relatives and friends
of the couple came to Port Aransas
to attend the wedding.
A reception dinner followed in the
Gardners’ home.
The bride and groom will make
their home in Chicago where the
bride is freelance writer and Web
site consultant and the groom oper-
ates an architectural firm.
Many years ago, longing for a
new King for all people, wise men
followed the star that appeared in
the eastern sky at the time of Jesus’
birth. Now is the epiphany sea-
son, a time each year when the
people of God look back and con-
template the meanine of that star
and the word becoming flesh.
Scriptures make it clear that there
was a real person named Jesus.
They witness to his life, death and
resurrection. Our faith is
grounded in Jesus’ teaching and
revelations about the nature of
God and our relationship to Him
and one another.
Faith is a gift from God and
part of his design for humanity.
This gift needs to be nurtured.
Scripture reveals God’s truth and
Christians have used it to form
their lives for two thousand years.

No particular person or group is
