dragged from the river ami when
it was drawn up out of the water
the load body of the negro was
found fastened in the buggy
where it had become entangled
The body of the negro was
brought to the city last night
The river was up about five feet
above its usual depth It is sup-
posed the negro had been drink-
ing and drove into the water
before ho realized what he was
doing
His name was George Hof man
and he lived in the western part

liminary survey have just been

giving Day Body Recovered
Yesterday
On > last Wednesday a negro
driver having in charge a team
from Harry Everetts stable of
this city left for Freestone county
with some parties going on a hunt-
ing trip He started on the re-
turn trip to Palestine Thanksgiv-
ing day alone When he reached
the Magnolia Ferry crossing on
the Trinity river ho drove his
team and buggy into the river
aud soon the horses were over
their heads in a swift current
Some campers on the bank of the
river gave the alarm and the
ferryman hurried out and rescued
the horses In the meantime the
negro had disappeared from view
The horses were finally piloted to
