Petlnon Asking For An Election Or-
der Now In Circulation
Dallas Texas Sept C It looks as
if Dallas Is soon to be up against the
real thing in a prohibition campaign
Local optlonists have again gotten
busy and something tangible is prom-
ised to be developed within the next
week State Secretary P F Paige of
the prohibition party admitted today
that it is the intention of the prohi
bitionists in Dallas county to coop-
erate with the Tarrant county mem
bers of the party In a local option
election Mr Paige said that while
he Is not at the head of the move-
ment yet he of course Is in sym-
pathy with It
As I understand it said Mr
Paige Secretary Ivy of the state
local option executive committee Is
managing the campaign until local
men In both Dallas and Tarrant coun-
ty are placed in charge Several
prominent prohibitionists Dr J H
Gambrell T B Buckner and others
are interested
It requires 250 signatures to a pe-
tition to secure a local option election
but I understand it Is proposed to ob-
tain more names than that As I un-
derstand it the men at the head of
the movement propose to present the
movement to the commissioners
court next Monday
It Is learned that John Carney a
strong worker In local option affairs
has charge of the Dallas county pe-
tition It is also stated that a petition
gotten up several months ago and
which was to be held up until after
the state and county political pri-
maries should be over has been lost
Thats why a new petition mustnow
be gotten up
