Satisfactory Work Being Made on
State Railroad In the Direction
> of Palestine
ipaisk Texas Tune 25 AH material
Is issembled for the construction of
thejbridge across the Neches river
sl ten miles from here for the state
ratljoad Although nothing has been
said about the construction of the
state road satisfactory progress has
beck made considering the limited
forje only 300 convicts being em
itted and the delay and ravages of
nijh water The bridge is to be a
rliher extensive affair but not as
long as that already completed and in
usi by the state railroad over Tales
bFlelc It is 1200 feet in length
wWch is longer than that to be built
pier the Neches With the comple
tum of the Neches river bridge con-
struction to Palestine will not be near
lsodifficult The building of the two
bjndges were problems to be reckon
ed with and now that the largest has
iiJen finished and trains running over
if every day the completion of the
second and last large structure will
be the consummation of the plans for
direct connection with Palestine
Once over the Neches river construc-
tion will be easy sailing though some
months will be required to get into
Palestine because of the small force
of convicts available for the work
The sugar farms have drawn a large

here
The state road is now in operation
to a point fifteen miles from here and
vsithin one mile of the Neches river
which will soon bo reached and the
bridge constructed The timber is
already on the ground for the building
of the bridge and when the force
comes up with the track nothing else
build the

to
snJstihe autTit is not expected that
the bridge can be completed and the
track afterward laid into Palestine
until some time next February unless
the number of convicts at work is
considerably augmented It would
seem that it will be impossible for
the road to be finished and in opeia
tlon into its destination Palestine
until early in the new year
