Internal Revenue service report-
ed Saturday That delinquent tax-
payers owed the government a-
bout $1,649,000,000 in June.
Officials feel certain that this
year’s higher rate of delinquen-
cies corresponds to the increase
in -consumer debt.
Salaries Of
Cabinet Hiked
WASHINGTON -(UP)- The
House Civil Service committee
approved a bill Wednesday to
grant salary increases to Pres-
ident Eisenhower's 10 cabinet
members and about 300 other top
government officials.
The measure would boost the
salaries of cabinet officers from
$22,500 to $25,000 a year. The in-
crease was proposed recently by
Mr. Eisenhower.
