Files Suit For Divorce

Mrs. Golda C. Markowsky
today filed suit for divorce
from her husband, DeWitt Coun-
ty Sheriff Raymond L. Marko-
wsky. The suit was filed in 24th
District Grtirt.
Attorneys representing Mrs.

In her petition, Mrs. Marl tow-
sky states that she and Mar-
lsowsky were married on or ab-
out March 29. 1945 and had liv-
ed together until July. 1964. "at
which time, because of the con-
duct of defendant, plaintiff was
forced to and did separate from
defendant, and since such time
plaintiff and defendant have
not lived together as husband
and wife."
Mrs. Markowsky recently un-
derwent major surgery in Cue-
ro Hospital Foundation and is
now recuperating. She went to
work in Victoria several
months ago and was made a
sheriffs deputy. She gives Vic-
toria as her home address
where she has rented a house.

regular August meeting attend-

Bill Kuester, manager at H.
E. B. Supermarket, was elected
vice president to replace Dewey
Schorre. Kuester is one of the
new directors.
Schorre, executive vie? presi-
dent of Buehel National Bank,
was named treasurer to replace
Paul Lucas.
Directors set the price at tick-
ets for the annual banquet on
Aug. 20 at 12.50 and voted to
give each member one non-
transferrable ticket.

Humphrey Gaining Support
In West, Midwest Stales
WASHINGTON <UF1> —Dem-
ocratic leaders in more than a
dozen Midwestern and Western
states today indicated their wil-
lingness to support Sen. Hubert
Humphrey for vice president,
but southern backing for the
Minnesota Democrat was not
as widespread.
Results of a UPI survey
showed that after President
Johnson’s elimination of Atty.
Gen Robert F Kennedy and
other cabinet officers, many
governors, state chairmen and
oilier party leaders preferred
Humphrey over Sen. Eugene
McCarthy, D-Mfain . or were
