I>ear Heloise:
As usual, I overloaded myself
while marketing today I do not
drive a car and have a two-
year-old son to hold onto. Have
you ever tried to hold onto a
child’s hand and still use both
hands to carry your heavy gro-
ceries for several blocks,
I have ... more times when I
care to admit! But today I sol-
ved the big problem.
I went to the dime store and
bought an inexpensive dog
chain. I put the hook end loos-
ely around my son's waist run-
ning the chain through a few of
the loops on his blue jeans,
hooked it, and held the other end
of the chain with my hand and
was able to carry my two bags
of groceries.
Maybe people thought I was
a nut but the walk home wasn’t
half bad! And my son didn’t
mind a bit. .Sure put my mind
at ease about him darting out
in front of a car.

Dear Heloise:
There are just two of us in
our home and we can never eat
a whole can of vegetables. So
before cooking, I take out the
portion we don't need and put
it in the freezer to be used lat-
er in soup, stew, or mixed with
other vegetables.
Never cook all of the canned
vegetables beforehand if you are
not going to use them as they
get mushy when reheated.
