Pools, Patios
And Decks Are
Popular Now
Home swimming pools are in-
creasingly popular this summer.
The degree of comfort and
enjoyment derived fmm back-
yard bathing can be greatly in-
creased by various simple
means.
Some people like to sun them-
selves between dips while oth-
ers prefer the shade In eithet
instance, a wool deck will come
in handy because of its high in-
sulation value.
One uce is for walkway and i
sunning surface around the pool.
The wood does not reflect heat
and you can absorb the sun’s
rays in comparative com'orl.
A second use is for roof cov- j
ering of a poolside patio. Wood
decking two inches thick. The
insulation this represents shields
bathers effectively and prevents
penetration by heat into shad-
ed areas.
As a roof for a poolside patio,
it is supported by horizontal
beams attached to widely spac-
ed posts. Roofing materials are
applied to the top of the simple
structure. Spaces between posts
can be glassed in. if desired,.
and the enclosed area air con-
ditioned.
With the deck walkway and j
sunning surface, the lumber is
constantly exposed to the ele-
