WASHINGTON (UP) The House
Appropriations committee Friday
denied President Eisenhower’s re-
quest for J6.5 million for the Dixon-
Yates project. It allotted the mon-
ey instead to a new power plant
for the Tennessee Valley Authori-

It dealt this sharp rebuff to the
President's controversial private
power proposal In recommending
to the House a $1,282,216,242 money
bill to finance federal power, flood

CHRISTIAN MORALITY
Or.c of the great steps"in preparing the world for five corning of Christ was the revelation that there
is a moral law running• through the universe: that this is.not a world of magic or caprice but one
of order.- We arc indebted to our Jewish forefathers for presenting, under Cod'* guidance, a moral
code The Ten Commandments, that has stood' the test of time,
Picture, to yourself, I he figure of Moses in the world of his day. Hi* people were in bondage, Egypt
vyas delinquent in the right* of man, freedom with honest moral authority was neglected.
Today, our conditions are not loo dissimiliar. Fear through the ntmse of law ami the neglect of the
dignity of man still 'iremuin*. Though our country was founded on the principle of freedom,
we have linen enslaved by its misuse and ill direction.
To understand the scope and purpose of moral taw, we realize that it is for the preparation of
tin1 way for Christ, who Himself earne not to do Hm own will, but the Father’*. It* end is to produce
a holy people, obedient to God, who will accept the Christ who proclaimed a new law of freedom,
through love, for the sons of God, not the slaves of man,
i nfill- His leadership, tnen can escape from their basic slavery being seperated from God. They
will, then, know more deeply the God "whose service is perfect freedom,” and understand a Son
who "became obedient, even to the death of the cross.”
