Hints From Heloise
by Htloh* Csvsm
Dear Gals:
i I had been testing hambur-
ger buns, wiener buns and rolls
i from my deep freeze for two
i weeks.
j So many complaints have
come in from women who say
' that when they freeze their rolls,
1 remove them from the freezer
and heat 'em, that they are
hard and taste dry.
Here's what I think you all
1 are doing
I think you are taking them I
from the freezer in their wrap- j
ping. o|>ening Ihe plastic, se- j
parating the rolls and setting!
(or whatever you call It)
you see inside the bag will be
absorbed BACK Into the rolls,
thus making them fresh again.
After this moisture Is absori)-
ed, or after the rolls are com-
pletely defrosted, finish cooking
or heating them.
I know it doesn't say this on
the package but I feel this is
your trouble. The rolls we re-
moved directly from the pack-
age and then lei thaw, were dry-
er and harder than those we
thawed inside the unopened
package.
Heloise
that | Dear Heloise:
My children have Collected a
lot of seasheils.
I discovered that the larger
of the rlam shells make won-
derful soap dishes. The little
curve at the bottom collects the
water thus keeping the bar of
soap from getting soft.
These shells are especially
pretty in the bathroom if they
are painted with the new pear-
lised nail polish that can Ivc
bought at any dime store. I us-
ed a light pink pearlized polish.
These painted shells als-j
make beautiful gifts.
Dorothy E.
otherwise, I would have had to
throw away a perfectly good
sweater. Now, you can't see the
little white fuzzy balls at all.

Dear Heloise :
To those women who have cast
Iron pots that turn food black:
After cleaning it with a soap-
filled pad and some scouring
powder, wash with soap and
rinse with hot water and let dry
thoroughly.
Then grease the pot all over
Put a tablespoon or more of
plain table salt in the pot and
take a piece of waxed paper
and wad It into a bail and «tart
scouring. Turn the ball of paper
over as It turns black. This
may take two or three wads of
pni>er but keep it up until the
waxed paper seems clean. Then
wash and rinse the pot as usu-
al.
I do this to keep my iron skil-
lets clean and the salt keeps
them from sticking.

thaw quickly.
DON'T do this'
I have found (and if you test
it yourself, you can se*' this Is

Dear Heloise:
I had a real good black swen-)
ter but it had little white balls j
of lint, all over it.
