In Contest Tues.
The Cuero High School Gob-
bler Band will compete in a
marching contest Tuesday, Nov.
24, at Victoria against four oth-
er AAA district bands, accord-
ing to Nat Alewine, director.
The contest will be held In
Patti Welder Stadium.

FH Beau At CHS
John Tieken, son of Edmund
Tieken of Cuero, a senior at
Cuero High School, has been sel-
ected beau of the Future Home-
makers, according to Jackie Hil-
brich, president of the FHA.
This is the first year the beau
did not have to be selected
from boys enrolled in the Fut-
ure Farmers.
John is a member of the Dis-
tributive Education Club.

Hallettsville Is next on the ag-
enda and it’ll be another of
those Gobblers efforts to avenge
their first loss to that club or
an equal effort to extend their
victory string to a pair over

Beeville, where another tourna-
ment has been arranged.
After all of those practice
shows, the Gobblers get down to
serious business of conference

the same dates between Decem-
ber 15 and February 16, final
date on the Cuero schedule un-
less the Birds turn up with a hot
one, win the league bunting and

Popular Place
Cuero Recreation Club, 120 E.
Main, is a popular place with
domino players and those who
like to play pool.
It is owned and operated by
W. A. Laake who has been in
charge for ten years.
This year a ‘‘Ladies Wel-
come" sign was an innovation
at the club, Laake said, and the
fair sex is now welcome to drop
in anytime.
Beer and soft drinks are avail-
able, and a television set is al-
so provided for those who would
like to just sit and enjoy it.
