Mr. and Mrs. Hicks Graves
are the proud parents of an
8% pound baby girl, born De-
cember 17 at the sanitarium
of Paris. The young lady’s
name is Margaret Ann. The
mother and baby are doing
line.
Mrs. Claude Clark received
a letter from her brother,
Jack Buzbee, who has recent-
ly been inducted into the
Army, and he is stationed at
Camp Robinson, Ark.
The youngest son of Mr.
and Mrs. Maness O’Connor
has been quite sick, but is re-
ported better.
Miss Mary Elizabeth Ruth-
^ her home Friday night.

Jack Turner, who has been
in ill health, is not doing so
well at this writing.
Joe McDowell made a busi-
ness trip to Fort Worth last
week.

The annual Christmas par-
ty of the Woman’s Missionary
Society of the Methodist
church was held at the home
of Mrs. J. Q. O’Connor Friday
night. Members and quests
exford entertained a number were greeted by the hostess,
of her friends with party at The gift exchange was from
a lighted tree. Refreshments
were served.
School dismissed December
22nd for the holidays and will
resume work on the 30th.

moved last week east of town
just over the line into Lamar
county. Mr. and Mrs. Wood-
row Smith and family moved
into the house vacated bv Mr.
Evans and family.
School closed Tuesday for
the holidays and will re-open
Monday, December 28.

Worth visited her sister, Mrs.
H. G. Whitlock, last weekend.
H. M. Brown left Sunday
night for Longview.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Holmes
and daughter, Ola Mae, and
Mrs. H. G. Whitlock attended
the funeral of Calvin Gray at
Monkstown last Tuesday.
A Christmas party was giv-
en Friday night in the home

the senior and intermediate
Sunday school classes. Mrs.
Irene Ford and Mrs. Frances
Collard, teachers, and thirty-
six guests registered, among
the guests being Sgt. Mark
Gray of Ellington Field. A
number of games were played
and while all were singing
“Jingle Bells,” Santa arrived
with his pack of gifts. After
he distributed the gilts, can-
dy and oranges were passed.

This will be the closing service
of the minister as he has been
called to a Little Rock, Ark.,
church. He will leave for Little
Rock Tuesday, December 29.
The past two years have been
joyous years of service. We have
never served a better people than
we have found in Honey Grove.
Our prayers and good wishes go
out to all our many friends at this
Christmas season.

Board Is Given
J. W. Herriage, u resident of
W indom for many years, passed
away at the Bonham hospital
Wednesday after an illness of two
'weeks. Mr. Herriage was born
August 31, 1870, in Clark County,
Ark., but had resided here and in

was in the grocery business for
many years here. His wife died
18 4'ears ago. He was a member
the Windom Church of Christ.
Survivors are two sons, Burel Her-
riage of Bonham and Clifton Her-
riage of Denison; and four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Carrie Nunn, Bonham;
Mrs. Georgia Scott, Calera, Okla.;
Mrs. Emma Cockrill, Colorado
City; Mrs. Naomi Howard, Okla-
homa City, Okla.; two brothers,
Tom and John Herriage, Bonham;
two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Burton,
and Mrs. Sally Frazier; and ten!
grandchildren. The funeral was j
conducted at the Moore’s Chapel

The annual Christmas dinner
tenderd the school board by the
Home Economics class of Bralley
Colored School under direction of
Carrie Pendleton, was given at
their school Tuesday at noon. The
mpal consisted of turkey, dressing,
giblet gravy, peas, sweet potatoes,
corn, congealed fruit salad, hot
rolls, coffee, plum pudding and
cherry pie., Favors were small red
boots filled with mints. Table dec-
orations were beautiful, lighted
red tapers sent out a holiday spirit
and the centerpiece was very pa-
triotic. It was a snow scene with
six miniature soldiers on duty.
Attending were W. H. Skinner,
W. O. Cravens, F. E. Clark, J. E.
Robison, J. Tal Richardson, N. R.
Troy, Dr. J. J. Cappleman, Dan
Baker, Mrs. Virgil Wilson of Bon-
ham, Miss Katherine Trout and H.
L. Thompson.
At the conclusion of the meal a
musical program was given by 17
students, the finale being by the
entire school.
Miss Flo Bryan is at home
for the holidays with her
mother, Mrs. R. C. Bryan.
She is a student at NTSTC;
Denton.

Mrs. Robert Hancock of Merry-
ville. La., is visiting at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris
Runkle, Sr.
Miss Lillian Ruth Longinire, who
teaches in Howe, is a guest at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Harve Longmire.
Mrs. John I. Wheeler had the
pleasure of enjoying a short con-
versation by an overseas call from
hr son, Frank Wheeler, Saturday
night, who is in San Juan, Porto
Rico, Headquarters ‘Air Supply
Depot. Mrs. Wheeler could hear,
her son’s voice real well, and of
course was glad to hear from him.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bell and
daughter of Paducah are guests at
the home of Mrs. George Schnabel
and Miss Ruth Dowlen for the
holidays.
Bob Cooper, who has been seri-
ously ill for several days, is re-
ported to be slightly better.
Mrs. Nell Barker has gone to
Miami, Fla., to join her husband,
who is stationed there for the
present.
Miss Doris Nell Wheeler of
Lakeview came in Saturday to
spend the holidays with her father,
A. N. Wheeler, and family.
Mrs. Pay Heston of Fort Worth
spent the weekend at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. D^lph Hill.
Misses Mary Elizabeth Rigsby,
Billy Jo Richardson, Joyce Taylor,
Estelle Nelms, and Lyle Dorries,
C. G. Elliott, Jr., and Bobby Tay-
lor, who attend school in Com-
merce, are home for the holidays.
Joe Dcrwlen, who attends med-
ical school in Dallas, is spending
the holidays with his mother, Mrs.
Leah Dowlen.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack McFarland of
Birmingham, Ala., came in Mon-
day to spend Christmas with Mr.
and Mrs. J. O. Moore.
C. W. Edens is confined to his
home by illness.
Miss Lanelle Elliott spent Sun-
day in Gainesville with friends.
