Appeal Filed
NEW YORK Curt Flood has
filed an apipeal in his antitrust
suit against baseball in the Sec-
ond Court of Appeals here
Flood, who refused to report
to Philadelphia after being tra-
ded by St. Louis last fall, sued
in an effort "to have the reserve
clause system outlawed. The
system binds a player to one
club until he is dealt or re-
leased.
Recently, following a month
long trial. Judge Irving Ben
Coo;,er, ruled th.J baseball was
exempt from Federal antitrust
laws undt'r United States Su-
preme Court decisions. ,
Flood's lawyersjare appealing
this ruling to the three-judge ap-:
peals court. The next appeal
would he to the Supreme Court.
