will be having their Inter-City
Golf Tournament at our course
on Tuesday, March 23rd. All
Cuero distaff golfers are invited
out to join them on this date.

The Cuero Gobblers will be
having their invitational golf
tournament here on March 26.
Twelve teams have been invit-
ed to play in this event. If at
all possible you should try to
make it out to see these young
shot makers. They may be young
but they are good also.

The top field of professional
golfers that play in the Colon-
ial National Invitation Tourna-
ment grew to greater heights
this week when J. C. Snead
accepted an invitation for the
May 17-23 clastic.
Snead will be making his first
appearance at the 26th NIT af-
ter having gained golfing prom-
inence this Spring while raptur-
ing the Tucson Open and the
Doral-Eastern Airlines Open.
Snead joins the tour’s top mo-
ney winner. Miller Barber, and j
another hot golfer on the cir-
cuit Tom Shaw, who hase both
agreed to play in the Colonial
classic.

Texas Christian University-
basketball coach Johnny Swain
has been named Coach of the
Year for District 6 by the Na-
tional Association of Basketball
Coaches.
Swain coached the Horned
Frogs to the Southwest Confer-
ence championship this year
after the TCU cagers has been
picked no higher than sixth in
pre-season polls. It was the
second SWC championship in
four years for the youthful
mentor.
Swain had earlier been tab-
bed Coach of the Year in the
SWC by the wire services.
For this honor Swain becomes
a nominee for National Coach
of the Year along with the •
seven other district winners ^
plus the roaches of the four j
NCAA finalists and the two NTT ’
