Use Grilles
To Change
( Windows
Wood windows with remova-
ble grilles offer distinct advan-
tages to homeowners who
- • hate to wash smaU-paned
windows
• like to change decorating
schemes
• plan their homes to be
easy to sell
• want Insulating glass for
comfort and small window
panes for appearance
Removable grilles of wood or
vinyl are available with fac-
tory-made ponderosa pine win-
dows at building supply centers.
Snapped into place over an ex-
panse of glass, the grilles im-
mediately change wood win-
dows and glass doors to con-
temporary, traditional, colonial
or Mediterranean, depending
on the grille style. This is a
dandy device for women who
change their minds about dec-
orating from time to time.
When it’s window-washing
time, the grilles snap out to
make the job easier, and con-
tributing to easier window
washing are the ponderosa pine
windows themselves. Many
have removable or tilt sash to
permit washing both sides of
the panes from inside the
house.
Quality windows with remov-
able grilles are a solid sales
factor for people who may be
moving in a few years. The
family can enjoy them now,
and when it’s time to move, the
windows help sell the house.
New owners can remove the
grilles if their tastes are dif-
ferent. If the grilles are wood,
they can be painted to match
any color scheme.
Removable grilles are also a
bonus to homeowners who in-
stall wood windows and doom
equipped with insulating glass
—double panes of glass with
Insulating air space sealed be-
tween to keep heat inside the
house In winter and outside in
cummer.
Finely machined modern
French, sliding or patio docn
with insulating glass can look
like the real old thing—pro-
vincial, traditional or Colonial
—-'hen grilles are snapped in.
