Three key Class AAA battles j
loom this weekend in East, West
and South Texas that could go |
a long way not only in deciding 1
district crowns, but perhaps ‘
the state title as well.
While the powers In Class
AAAA face generally easy op-
ponents, Henderson, Brownwood
and Bridge City all face rugged
foes that could shake up the ;
class AAA ratings.
Henderson, ranked third in
Class AAA and enjoying a
week’s rest, puts its undefeated
record on the line against once-
beaten Nacogdoches this week.
Fifth - - ranked Brownwood,
a 42-7 winner over Weatherford
last week, takes on San Saba
this Friday. Both schools own
7-1 marks.
In South Texas, ninth-ranked
Bridge City 6-1 after a 34-12
win over Cleveland last week
meets Liberty, a club that has
tasted defeat only once this
year.
New Leader Due
Class AAA will have a new
top team this week- probably
either Refugio, Ennis or Hen-
derson — since Perryton was
knocked off its perch last wee*
13-12 by Hereford.
Galveston, the big winner in
Class AAAA last week, should
stay atop its falsification's rat-
ings this week and will go out
in search of its ninth straight
win over Lamar Consolidated
1-6-1. Galveston whipped sec-
ond ranked Brazosport last week

meets Pleasanton in what
should lie Refugio's ninth win
of the season. Ennis, another of
those unbeaten teams, is not ex-
pected to have too much trou-
ble with Terrell 4-3-1.
Alvin 8-0 enjoys an open

given up only 12 points all year,
