NURSES ARE APPRECIATED
Parents and students of the South Belt area would like
to say “thank you” to the nurses who work at the
following elementary schools: Barbara James at Atkin-
son, Dee Wright at Burnett, Carolyn Lewis at Frazier,
Mozelle Milstead at Meador, Katha Black at Moore,
Nancy Neason at Stuchbery, and Judith Lowell at

CONGRATULATIONS, MARTY
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Agreila of Beverly Hills are
prpud to announce the graduation of their son Martin
(Marty) Agreila from the University of Houston with a
Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
Marty was named to the dean’s list his final semester
and was the leader of a four-member student group that
designed a unique safety jdint for subsea pipelines. The
design has been selected to represent the University of
Houston in a National Design contest in July. Marty
is a 1977 graduate of J. Frank Dobie School and has ac-
cepted a position with Cameron Iron Works as a
product design engineer. Congratulations, Marty, from
your family and friends.

David and Marie Flickinger of Sagemont celebrate
their 20th wedding anniversary on Jan. 20. Congratula-
tions and best wishes come from their families and
friends.
WATCH OUT HULK
Bill Alien of Sagemeadow can be seen in the current
commercial for U.S. Homes. This super muscular gen-
tleman has won many awards and competitions. Bill is a
teacher at San Jacinto Intermediate and his wife Sonia
teaches at Thompson. They have two sons, David and
Todd. It is nice to know that hard work does pay off
sometimes.
FIRST IN STATE
Suzanne Epps, a senior at Dobie High School won
first place in the area choir tryouts in November in the
alto division and went on to win first place in the state
tryouts on Jan. 9. Suzanne will now be singing with the
State Choir in San Antonio on Feb. 13. Her mother,
Marie Epps, and sister, Carole, send their
congratulations, as do all her friends.
HAWAII HONEYMOON
Don and Cindy Richter Jordan who were married on

Jan. 9, are spending their honeymoon in Hawaii. On
their way back, they will visit with cousins in San Fran-
cisco. Cindy is a 1975 graduate of Dobie. Congratula-
tions to this special couple from all their friends.
WIFE IS PSYCHIC
Stan Ross of Kirkwood was driving to work the other
morning when he discovered a small fire in the back seat
of his car. A cigarette he flipped out his car window had
not reached its desired destination. Norma, his wife,
must be psychic because for years she has been telling
Stan that flipping a cigarette out the car window could
be dangerous. Better start listening to your wife, Stan.
SPECIAL EDITION
Robert and Marsha Mauldin would like to announce
the birth of their son Brance Overton Mauldin on Jan.
5, 1982 at Clear Lake Hospital at 7:45 a.m. Brance
weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and stretched 20 Vi inches.
Big sister, Marissa Dawn is proud to have a baby
brother. Grandparents are Mike and Helen Overton of
Temple and J.B. and Joyce Mauldin of Belton. Marsha
teaches journalism and eighth grade English at Beverly
Hills. Congratulations to the Mauldins from all their
friends and students.
LARIAETTE BALL
The Lariaette Ball was held Jan. 15 at the Sylvan
Beach Pavillion. Queen of the ball was senior Leanna
Briggs. Senior princesses were Julie Peterson, Angie
Galano, and Billie Baimbridge. Junior duchess was
Pam Buchanan and sophomore duchess was Kim
Daniel. Finalists for junior duchess were Roseann
Ebert, Codysue Yoss and Sarah Whitehead. Finalist for
sophomore duchess were Tammy Snow and Stacey
Allen. Congratulation to the Royal Court and all the
finalist.
