Football Practices to boglo
Monday lor County Schools
Rules have changed for Sports
Football practices will begin
Monday for all three County High
Schools, but the rules have
changed from the old Two-A-
Day s that has in the past been
the beginning of football prac-
tice.
* Crosbyton will begin prac-
tice at 8:00 a.m., Monday, August
6 th.
* Ralls will begin their prac-
tice at 7:00 a.m., Monday, August
6 th.
* Lorenzo will also begin
practice on Monday, August 6th
at 7:15 a.m.
The first of those rules will
take effect next week when foot-
ball and volleyball teams begin
days of two-a-day practices as
they’ve been known in the past
are over.
During the first four days of
preseason practice, with players
not in pads except for helmet full
practices in one day. What is al-
lowed is one full practice and then
one walk-through.
Then, after the first four days
when players put on the pads,
Cousins said two full practice
days, and there must he a mini-
mum two-hour break in. between
practices, an increase from work-
outs. Teams also can not work
out for more than five hours in
any one day.
“It’s something that’s been
on our plate and on our radar for
a number of years.” What we’re
doing in this situation is tweak-
ing the information, we already
had.”
Most other rules changes will
affect minor sports.
* Track and field has added
an area track meet in between the
district and regional meet each
event from the district meet to the
area meet, which would pit two
districts against qualifiers would
go to the regional meet. With ap-
proval by each district’s execu-
tive comn district meet and send
all competitors straight to the
area meet, or could opt out of the
area from the district meet to the
regional meet.
* The tiebreaker in soccer
goes from being a 85-yard
shootout to penalty kicks.
* The number of regional
qualifiers in golf would go from
two to three teams from each in-
dividuals per district.
* In cross country, Classes
5A and 4A voted to increase the
distance of the district, regional
miles, while Classes 3A and down
will remain at 2 miles.

Meeting for the 2012-2013
year in Crosbyton on Saturday,
July 21.
New Governor Peg White
led the Cabinet in a full slate of
business before guest speaker
Sam Lindsey, the current Presi-
dent of the Texas Lions Camp,
took the floor. PDG Lindsey
began by installing the new slate
of officers and cabinet mem-
bers for the District. He also
spoke passionately about the
importance of the Texas Lions
Camp to the children of Texas.
Lions host more than one thou-

dren with physical and mental
challenges, as well as a diabe-
tes camp that helps campers
organize their daily routine to
manage their diabetes more ef-
fectively. However, the true em-
phasis of each of the camps is
to have fun. Lindsey stressed
the importance of the camps
and the Lions responsibility to
continue this great effort.
Crosbyton Lions provided
a gravy, sausage and biscuit
meal, with the help of Ashley
Faber, for the sixty guests at-
tending the event at the Crosby
