Soil make*
TEX
GOOD SOIL, GOOD BEEF—Soil produces grass
and grass produces beef, but it takes good soil to
produce good grass, and good grass to produce good
beef. According to the Supervisors of the Little
Wichita Soil Conservation District the best way to
produce plenty of good grass is to develop a com-
plete range conservation program on your range-
land. This program should consist of brush control
where needed. A complete rest of 90 to 120 days
during the growing season each year. Proper stock-
ing to leave fifty percent of each years growth of the
better grasses on the land for soil protection and to
maintain the vigor of the plants. Archer County is
the short grass ranching capitol of the world. Only
the ranchers in the county can help keep it that way.
