AGRICULTURAL
NOTES
From the
County Agent's Offif*
This is the time of the year
that the “garden fever” hits a lot
of us. If you don’t have it yet
just pick up a send catalogue
and feast on the pictures in it.
Some things to consider by the
gardener are:
Select a good fertile spot.
Check for fertility needs.
Plan for needs of the family.
Select varieties that do good
in this area.
Start with a good insect con-
trol program.
Arrange plot for maximum
production on the area.
Plant at the time that is most
likely to give best results.
Start early with a good weed
control program.
Gardening bulletins that con-
tain good suggestions are avail-
able in the office. Come by and
get yours.
U. D. Thompson, animal hus-11
j bandman with Texas A&M Col-
lege, visited in the county Mon-!
day. He spent the afternoon visit-1
ing some of the cattlemen and
discussing wiiii them some oi
the problems that they might be
confronted with. T.iat night he
met with a few at the court house
and explained some of the things
necessary for successful range
management. He told them that
they could figure on.8 lb. of ac-
tual protein to sustain a cow on |
the range and that it could be J
obtained from several sources at j
varying cost.
Many questions were asked
concerning varying feed mixtures !
and mineral for cattle in this
area.
