The bride wore a white waltz-
length gown of taffeta and lace

with seed pearls. Her gown was
enhanced with three-quarter-
length sleeves tapering to points
toward her hands, and a chiffon
bow at the Waist in back. She
carried a cascade bouquet of,
feathered white carnations with
a garland of ivy and white satin
ribbon shower.
Mrs. Billy V. Linscott of Dal-
las, a sister-in-law, was matron
of honor. She wore a waltz-length
dress of blue lace over satin
with matching accessories and
carried a cascade bouquet of
pink feathered carnations with
tips of leather fern.
Billy V. Linscott of Dallas,
brother of the groom, served as
best man.
Ushering were Kenny Wayne
Armstrong of Garden City, broth-
er of the bride, and Pat Cox of
Archer City. They also served as
cendlelighters.
Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong and
Mr. and Mrs. Linscott, parents
of the bride and groom, were
hosts for a reception held fol-
lowing the wedding, at the Lin-
scott home. The bride’s table
was covered with a pink cloth
and featured the two-tiered wed-
ding cake topped with miniature
bride and groom.
Reception assistants were Mrs.
Bob Campbell. Wichita Falls, the
groom’s cousin; Mrs. E. B. Lin-
scott, Lane, Okla, and Mrs. W.
C. Meek. Archer City, grandmoth-
ers of the groom; Mrs. Hazel
Whitaker, the groom’s aunt; and
Mrs. Ben Page.
The former Miss Armstrong is
a graduate of Centralia, Kan.,
High School where she was a
member of the band. She is now
a government employee in Wash-
ington, P C.
Mr. Linscott is a 1957 graduate
of Archer City High school. He
attended Tyler Commercial Col-
lege and in 1958 went into mili-
tary service. He was sent to an
eUctronics school in Augusta,
Ga., and after completion of his
schooling there he was sent to
Washington, D. C- where he has
since been employed in the
White House Signal Agency.

City, exchanged nuptial vows
Monday morning, April 4 in the
Baptist parsonage in Vernon.
Officiant at the double-ring cere-
mony was the Rev. Jack Merritt,
Vernon Baptist church pastor.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Shields and
Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Boren are
parents of the groom.
For the simple but lovely cere-
mony the former Miss Shields
v/ore a white embroidered satin
dress with white accessories.
Both the bride and groom at
tended Archer City High School
where she was a member of the
school band for three years.

The Methodist WSCS met
Monday afternoon for their Year
Bock study with Mrs. Cecil
Fletcher as leader.
Group singing of “Jesus Calls
Us” opened the meeting. Mrs.
T. L. Hilton brought the medita-
tion “Peace of Mind” ’and the
opening prayer.
A panel discussion was pre-
sented by four members, Mrs
G B. Purcell, Mrs. L. D. Bailey,
Mrs. A. A. Ayers and Mrs. R. 0.
Andrews.
Announcement was made of
the District WSCS Spiritual Life
meeting in Wichita Falls at the
University Methodist Church. All
who can attend were urged to
do so.
A song “For the Beauty of
the Earth” was sung after which
Mrs. Linley Vowell dismissed the
group with prayer.

The Megargel Future Home-
makers of America, supervised
by their teacher, Mrs. Bertha
Ramsey, honored the girls’ moth-
ers Monday, April 11 with a ban-
quet and lively program in the
homemaking cottage
Gail Womack registered the
guests and pinned a lilac, made
by the girls, on each of the moth-
ers. Quartet tables were laid with
white cloth and centered with a
single lighted taper in a nest of
green which contained colored.1.
Easter eggs. Place cards, also
made by the girls, featured the
Easter theme. Plate favors were
tiny colored rabbits.
The meal was prepared and
cooked by the lunchroom em-
ployees and served by the girls.
Gail McAnally, FHA vice pres-
ident, served as master of cere-
monies, and introduced the fol-
lowing:
Carolyn Kreiter in a number
of piano selections; a trio. Caro-
lvn LaMar. Carol Jo Fails and
Marv Gentry accompanied at the
piano by Clara Walker, singing
“Bless This House” and “I Be-
lieve”.
Mary Gentry gave a reading
“Peanut Butter”, after which 14
girls presented a comedy skit
‘•Fitting Shoes”, ad libbing all
parts.
At home in Merritt Island,
Fla., where the groom is employ-
ed as a teacher in the Brevard
County School system, are Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd D. Griffiths.
Mrs. Griffiths is the former
Miss June Stanford, daughter of
Mrs. Alta Stanford, 1525 Carol
Lane. Wichita Falls. The groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A.
Griffiths of Radnor, Ohio and
Merritt Island.
The couple was married re-
cently in the First Methodist
Chapel at Cocoa. Fla. Officiant
for the double-ring ceremony
was the Rev. James E. Bartlett,
pastor.
The bride was presented in
marriage by her brother, Dor-
v/in Stanford of Archer City. She
was attired in a princess-style
sheath dress of Chantilly lace
over taffeta complemented by a
mrtching jacket which featured
long tapered sleeves. Her shoul-
der-length veil of imported silk
illusion was attached to a tiara
of jewels and seed pearls. She
carried a white Bible covered
with white orchids and stephano-
tis.
Serving her sister-in-law as
matron of honor was Mrs. Dor-
win Stanford of Archer City.
Best man for his brother-in-law
w as Ivan Hedges of Radnor, Ohio.
A reception in the home of
the grooms parents was held
following the ceremony.

WSCS Has Meeting
Tuesday at Home

The Holliday Woman’s Socie-
ty of Christian Service met in
the home of Mrs. Leslie Finnell
Tuesday morning for a business
meeting conducted by the presi-
dent, Mrs. Clifford Sanders.
Mrs. C. J- Clark gave the de-
votional message. Mrs. J. E.
Weaver gave the statement of
the treasurer. The opening hymn
was “Open Mine Eyes That I See”
with Mrs, G. A. Gaynor at the
piano.
Mrs. Sanders announced the
District Spiritual Life Retreat
set for April 20 at University
Methodist Church. She also urged
all officers to attend the Dis-
trict Officers Training to be
held April 28 at Grant St. Meth-
odist Church. Mrs. Borgman will
conduct the clinic for secretaries
of student work.
Others giving reports were
Mesdames H. L. Stephenson, J.
M. McElvaney, D. A. McKee, J.
G. Etheridge, and Leslie Finnell.
The next meeting will be a
Joint Circle meeting and will
conclude the Spiritual Life Study,
the Gospel of Luke.
