ACHS Students Honored At Presentation Program

Mr. and Miss ACHS honors
went to Freddy Walsh and Debie
Martin at the Friday evening
Awards Presentation of Archer
City High School. The program
was sponsored by the journa-
lism class and honored all stu-
dents having won any special
honor or acclaim during the
1969-70 school year thus far.
The program was held in the
school cafeteria under the
direction of Mrs. L. N. Barton,
sponsor.
The program was opened with
Mark Fullerton, student council
president, leading in the pledge
to the flag. Tim McPherson,
superintendent of schools, was
master of ceremonies and pre-
sented the awards. The Stage
Band provided the music for
the program.
Students-of-the-month were
recognized first. These out-
standing students are chosen
each month by the faculty on
the basis of citizenship, leader-
ship and character. Debie Mar-
tin was chosen September citi-
zen, Casey Rodgers for
October, Ricky Garlington for
November, Cyd Hornady for
December, and Becky Crow for
January.
Who’s Who in the various
subjects, also chosen by the
faculty, were recognized. The
following students were recog-
nized under the Whos’s Who.
Shirley Gensler in math; Allen
Campbell in boys’ athletics;
Becky Crow in girls’ athletics;
Freddy Walsh in English; Mark
Fullerton in science; Eddie
Trigg in foreign languages;
Carol Groves in commercial
studies; Becky Crow in journa-
lism.
Kerry O’Keefe was recog-
nized in band; Debie Martin in
social studies; Chuck Jackson in
industrial arts; Jim Bob Crow-
ley in vocational agriculture;
Debbie Carter in homemaking;
and Theresa Matlock in library
science.
Kerri O’Keefe and Freddy
Walsh were favorites of the
senior class; Lora Smitson and
Jim Black were chosen by the
junior class; Karen Luig and
Lonnie Maag represent the
sophomore class; and DeLane
McGriff and R C. Graves were
freshman favorites.
Special awards went to Debie
Martin, DAR Citizen Award;
Theresa Knox was recipient
of the Betty Crocker Award;
and Donna Teichman received
the Crisco Award, outstanding
in foods.
High school favorites named
included Mr. and Miss ACHS;
Carol Groves and Eddie Trigg
were chosen best groomed girl
and boy; Donna Hill and Lonnie
Maag, wittiest girl and boy;
LaNell Mobley and Eddie Wright
were chosen best all-round girl
and boy; Vicki Small was chosen
school beauty; and friendliest
girl and boy were Kerri O’Keefe
and Wayne Frerich.
