received approval .of Regional
Scout Executive James P. Fitch,
Dallas and is being circularized

SUSPECT ARRESTED
HOUSTON — (UP) — A 30-
year-old man. suspected of a $500
tobacco burglary in Bryan, was
arrested on a farm near Pear-
land Thursday night by Hous-
ton policemen after a five-mile
bloodhound chase through hea-
vy undergrowth and swamps.
City farm bloodhounds were
used to trail the man.
JAP SHOOTING—
(Continued from Page 1)
the eye and that he had a third
wound, but the official prosecu-
tor’s office said he was not se-
riously wounded.
Police reported that despite
his wound and advanced age,
Baron Hiranuma chased Ishi-
yama to the gate of his villa,
where a guard intercepted Ishi-
yama and arrested him. Ishi-
yama was slightly injured in a
I scuffle.
News of the shooting was
suppressed for five hours while
police were questioning Ishi-
yama, seeking to find the mo-
tive which impelled him to try
to kill Baron Hiranuma and
especially seeking to find wheth-
er there was a political angle.
The political angle was re-
garded as important. There had
been no political attempt against
the life of a cabinet minister
since the extremimist army re-
volt of 1936 in which the finance
minister, the lord privy seal
and the inspector general of mil-
itary education were killed.
(Baron Hiranuma is a conser-
vative leader and has great, al-
most dominant influence in'the
cabinet, i
He has been regarded as
friendly to the United States
and Great Britain rather than
to Germany and Italy, though
for years he was an extreme na-
tionalist. His “fascism” was of
the domestic order in that he
favored a strong government for
Japan.
In recent years Baron Hira-
numa had softened his views,
and at the time he became pre-
mier he had come to favor con-
