attempt to abolish the pountl-
and-a-half loaf of bread Friday
had drawn an emphatic “No!"

The Senate added the provis-

measures bill on advice that
some establishments attempt to

Rep. W. R. Chambers of May
asked first that the House con-

has considerable merit and we
don’t want to see it killed.”
Rep. Jimmy Phillips of Angle-
ton moved to send the bill to a
d conference Committee with in-

ment limiting the size of bread
loaves. Chambers agreed after

Flag Swap Hits Snag In Legislatun
AUSTIN — (UP) — Sponsors
of a senate resolution to promote
international amity by exchang-
ing Texas and Mexican battle
flags were searching Friday for
a more pacific approach to the
question in the Texas house of
representatives.
The resolution, by Sen. Clem
Fain of Livingston, proposes
that the battleflag captured at.
San Jacinton from Gen. Santa
Anna’s army be exchanged for
the flag of the Alamo which was
captured by the Mexicans.
There was little opposition to
tiie resolution in the senate.
But it got. such a noisy recep-
tion in the house of represen-
tatives that Rep. Woodrow Bean
of Sierra Blanca, its sponsor,
withdrew temporarily.
Objectors emphasized that
they had no desire to reflect

exchanging the flags that men
died for.”
Bean said the resolution mere-
ly showed that “we’re willing to
