SAN FRANCISCO — (UP) —
Iwo was like being in hell with-
out a drink of water. This is the
conviction of 18-year-old Private
Conrad Taschner of Lansing,
Mich. He was among 000 Mar-
ines who arrived at the navy
receiving hospital at San Fran-
cisco from Iwo.
Taschner, who participated in
the Hitter fighting for Mount
Suribaehi, says there is nothing
to compare with Iwo.

During February

Preliminary estimates of the Bu-
reau of Labor statistics show
there were 310 work stoppages
during February. The stoppages
involved 109,000 workers.
