A very interesting program is
shaping up for the Bandera Stom-
pede which has been set for the
first week in May, being Mhy 2,
3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. The full week
of fun and frolic will include a
trail ride sponsored by the Bexar
County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse.
The Posse will arrive in Bandera
on May 4 for a big free barbecue
and dance.
On May 5 the Stompede will be
officially opened with a mamouth
parade from Mansfield Park which , „
will wind its way through the carnival,
streets of Bandera. On that even-
ing there wMlbe a big rodeo, San
Antonio Charm’s drill competi-
tion, dances at Mansfield' Park,
the Cabaret and Silver Dollar.

will be featured. On Saturday
the rodeo and dance will be at
Mansfield Park as well as other
night spots in Bandera.
On Sunday, May 7, Lost Valley
will also be the setting for motor-
cycle races.
There will be many types of
free entertainment during the
week-long Stompede, such as
aerial acts by the Sky Divers,
silver’ dollar pitching, armadillo
races, go-cart races, etc., and a

the Carl Johnson Phillips 66 Serv-
ice station will hold open house
and a formal opening of the new
station owned and operated by
Carl Johnson of this city. The
station is at the location of the
old Humble station on the corner
of Main and Cherry Streets. .
The public is cordially invited
to attend the formal opening of
the new station. There will be
gifts for everyone.

an asset to the business life of

The Ninth Annual Madronu Gar-
den Club Flower Show will open
tomorrow at 2 p.m., in the Bandera
High School gymnasium, and
close at 5 p.m., Sunday, April 23.
"As the Seasons Come and Go”
is the theme chosen for the show
which will feature the horticulture
divisions and also the arrange-
ment classes. These divisions will
be opened to anyone who wishes
to enter. There will be sections
for men only, guest clubs, commer-
cials and a fine junior division,
as well as an exhibit of conserva-
tion and educational interest.
Bond,, Election Set
for May 27th
Bandera County’s road bond
election has been set to coincide
with the run-off Senatorial elec-
tion on May. 27. The election
calls for a $300,000 road bond
issue for the purpose of build-
ing fences and buying right of
way in the county for roads des-
ignated by the State Highway
Commission. As yet the designa-
tion of these roads has not been
made, though it is understood that
those under consideration will be
