METHODIST MEN HEAR
MRS. WRIGHT ON INDIA
Mrs. George Wright of Medina
was the featured speaker at the
meeting of Methodist Men, Mon-
day, April 17. The occasion was
a special one when the men in-
vited their wives to the program.
Mrs. Wright brought with her a
very interesting display of art
objects collected during the years
she and Mr. Wright spent in
India and gave an informative and
delightful talk on the people of
India and their customs.
In his introduction of Mrs.
Wright, Mr. Glendon Roberts said
that Mr. and Mrs. Wright are
enjoying their home in Medina.
Later Mr. Wright was heard to say
that he had never lived in any
place that was more lovely than
the Medina section. For a dum-
ber of years Mr. Wright was em-
ployed by the Goodyear Rubber
Company and it was while working
with that company that the
Wrights made their home in In-
dia near Calcutta. Mrs. Wright
has taught in-'- Southwestern Uni-
versity at Georgetown, at Texas
Tech at Lubbock and in several
high schools in Texas. She is a
speech major. She is now teach-
ing one section of the fifth grade
in Bandera.
Mr. W. P. Jordan is the presi-
dent of Methodist Men and Mrs.
Jordan was responsible for the
colorful table arrangement of
roses and iris. A nice crowd was
present for the dinner and pro-'
gram and tlftn they lingered to
look at the display of lovely wools,
silk embroidered with gold thread,
lirass, and silver temple pieces,
delicate carvings and the old pray-
er wheel.

Implement federal quarantine
laws. The hill by Crump, Senate
Bill No. 190, has been approved
by the Senate by a vote of 29 to 0
and now is pending in the House
after receiving favorable action
last week by the House Agricul-
ture .Committee,
The legislation would provide
state penalties up to $200 upon
conviction of transporting each
animal or shipment of products
from quarantined areas into the
State. Each shipment constitutes
a Separate offense under the bill.
Inspectors of the Texas Animal
Health Commission are authoriz-
ed to require treatment and cer-
tification before any shipment
from a quarantined area can be
made.
Animal shipments affected by
the bill include those of any cat-
tle, horses, mules, jacks, jennets,
goats, sheep, hogs, exotic or cir-
cus animals unless such livestock
have been dipped free of infec-
tion and certified free of fever
tick and screw-ivorm. Products
included in the ban include any hay,
straw, grasses, packing, pine
straw, corn shucks, weeds, plants,
litter, manure, dirt, posts, sand,
gravel, timber in its natural state,
caliche or animal by-products.
Final passage of the bill, Crump
said, will give state authorities
needed legislation to keep our
State clear of screw-worm and
tick fever and enable them to
work in conjunction with federal
authorities in enforcement.
