of Taft, Texas
Green in ! 9 i 0 for the purpose of assisting in the development of this
section by Ginning the Cotton and Crushing the Cotton Seed grown
here, and it was the first company to build and operate Gins in Taft,
Portland, Sinton and St. Paul.
The Cotton Seed Oil Mill in Taft is also one of the Pioneer
Mills of this section, and its construction in 1910 created a compet-
itive market for the seed grown here, which enabled our local
h armers to secure better prices for this product, as the Cotton Seed
Market up to that time was controlled by the Terminal Mills loca-
ted in our larger cities, who were in a position to dictate the price to
be panu for seed previous to the establishment of local Mills, such as
the one here in Taft.
During the early period of our history the Gins and Mills
were operated at a loss, but with the development of the country
and the splendid co-operation that has been accorded to us by the
Farmers of this section, our business has grown to the point where
we are in a better position than ever before to give the Farmers of
Taft, Texas
TAFT COMPRESS AND
WAREHOUSE CO.
Work is going forward rapidly on the extension of the pre-
sent compress building, also the big bonded warehouse, which
alone will cover almost three acres of land. All buildings will,
be completed and ready, before the cotton season opens, to re-
ceive and put under cover every bale of cotton brought to Taft.
With our ample storage and first class equipment we will
be in position to render the very best service.
