Square Dance
Lessons Offered
By Local Club
The Archer City Tangle-
foot’s Square Dance Club
will sponsor square dance
lessons, beginning March
20, according to a spokes-
man for the club.
The local club was organ-
ized and joined the Red
River Valley Association in
1973. By-laws were written
and Article VII of the club’s
by-laws states: “There shall
be no alcholic beverages
consumed at nor immediate-
ly prior to any club activity
or dance. Those participat-
ing shall be asked to leave
that club activity or dance by
club officers.”
According to the history of
square dancing, it is one of
the oldest pastimes. Our
forefathers square danced
for fun and relief of tension
and today the dance has
been modernized, but the
basic pattern is the same.
The Red River Square
Dance Association was
organized in 1963 with seven
charter clubs and today the
local club is one of 12 clubs
belonging to the association.
