Repealing Sections 48a,
48b, 51e, and 51f of Article
III and Sections 62 and 63
of Article XVI of the Texas
Constitution, Article XVI of
the Texas Constitution is
amended to:
Provide for the revision
and consolidation of pro-
visions relating to state and
local retirement systems
and programs and to pro-
vide that all general laws
that have established retire-
ment systems and optional
retirement programs for
public employees and offi-
cers in effect at the time
of the adoption of this con-
stitutional amendment will
remain in effect, subject to
the general powers of the
Legislature.
Provide that the amount
a participating officer or
employee contributes to the
employee retirement sys-
tem or the teacher retire-
ment system shall be estab-
lished by the Legislature
but may not be less than
6% of current compensa-
tion and providing further
that the amount contributed
by the state may not be less
than 6 nor more than 10%
of the aggregate compensa-
tion paid to participating
persons, except that in an
emergency, as determined
by the Governor, the Legis-
lature may contribute more
than 10% of the aggregate
compensation paid to per-
sons participating in state
retirement systems.
Provide that the Legisla-
ture shall provide for local
retirement systems created
by any city or county for
its officers and employees
and shall further provide
for a state-wide system of
benefits for officers and
employees of counties or
other political subdivsions
of the State which may
voluntarily participate, and

cities which may voluntar-
ily participate.

posed amendment as it will

“The constitutional

tribution to state systems
of 10 percent of the ag-
gregate compensation
paid to individuals."

salaries of members of
the legislature at $600

Four Mishaps
In January
The Texas Highway Patrol
investigated four accidents
on rural highways in Archer
County during the month of
January. 1975, according to
Sergeant J. W. Garner,
Highway Patrol supervisor
of this area.
These crashes resulted in
two persons killed and no
persons injured.
The rural traffic accident
summary for this county
during the first month of
1975 shows a total of four
accidents resulting in two
persons killed and no per-
sons injured.
The rural traffic accident
summary for the 60 counties
of the Lubbock Department
of Public Safety Region for
January, 1975, shows a total
of 451 accidents resulting in
16 persons killed and 241
persons injured as compared
to January, 1974, with 553
accidents resulting in 16 per-
sons killed and 302 persons
injured. This was 102 less
accidents and 61 less injured
in 1975 at the same period of
time.
The 16 traffic deaths for
the month of January, 1975,
occurred in the following
counties: two each in Ar-
cher, Castro, Lubbock. Old-
ham, Randall; and one each
in Briscoe, Cottle, Deaf
Smith. Hale, Hartley, and
Wise.

Mike Hoff Shows Grand
Champion At Honston

Redfield M B Bell, a 1700-
pound registered Holstein,
owned and exhibited by
Mike Hoff of Windthorst,
was named grand champion
at the open dairy show of the
Houston Livestock Show last
week.
The grand champion was
selected over all entries after
she was named winner of
the three-year-old class. Leo
Hoff. Jr., had a second place
entry in the three-year-old
class and brother Mark
placed sixth in the same
class.
Hoffland Holstein Dairy,
owned by Leo [Bad] Hoff of
Windthorst wm selected as
the premier exhibitor and
breeder at the Houston open
show. The dairyman was
presented a silver tray and
casserole dish as awards for
the top honor.
Other placings of the Hoff
Dairy in the Houston open
show included: First place in
the aged bull class; Mark,
fourth, junior heifer; Mike,
second, junior yearling heif-
er; Leo, Sr., eighth, senior
yearling heifer; Clayton,
fourth, two-year-old heifer;
Leo, Jr., fourth, four-year-
old cow; Leo, Jr., second,
two-year-old cow; second in
the dairy herd division; and
second in the best three fe-
males class.
San Antonio Show
Results of the San Antonio
Show held recently include:
Leo Hoff was the Premier
Breeder and Exhibitor of the
San Antonio Show; first
place in the two-year-old
bull class; second places in
the senior yearling class;
dairy herd and best three fe-
males.
Mark Hoff placed second
in the heifer calf and second
in the three-year-old cows.
Tommy Hoff placed fourth
in the senior yearling class.
Leo Hoff, Jr., showed the
second and third places in
the two-year-old cows; first
in the three-year-old cows;
and third in the four-year-
old class.

GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE — Leo Hoff, Jr., Wind-
thorst 4-H student, showed this three-year-old cow, Hoff-
land Burke Kate Jodie, and was named grand champion
at the 1975 junior dairy show In Fort Worth. Young Hoff
showed the same cow this past week In Houston and
stood In second place behind an entry by Mike Hoff that
was named grand champion In the Houston open show.
Mike’s grand champion, Redfield M B Bell, was sold
following the Houston show.
Wichita Falls DOC To Host A
Genealogical Seminar April 5
The W. R. Scurry Chap-
ter, United Daughters of the
Confederacy of Wichita Falls
is sponsoring an all-day
genealogical workshop Sat-
urday, April 5, at Holiday
Inn-East in Wichita Falls.
The program will begin
with registration at 9-00
a.m., and program begin-
ning at 10:00 a.m. A buffet
luncheon will be served at
noon and sessions will con-
tinue through the afternoon
concluding at 4:00 p.m.
This workshop is especial-
ly aimed at those individuals
doing genealogical research
that find it impossible to
travel away from home any
great distance to work. It
will be of great benefit to
both the amateur and the
advance researcher.
The speakers list is an im-
pressive one and will include
C. George Younkin of Fort
Worth, Lucile A. Boykin of
Dallas, Mary Lee Ervin and
Alone Simpson of Oklahoma
City plus representatives
from Moffett Library, Mid-
western University and the
Kemp Public Library of
Wichita Falls.
The speakers will be avail-
able after the afternoon ses-
sion to answer questions of a
specific nature from those
individuals attending and
during the sessions time will
be allowed to accept general
type questions from the
floor. This will afford the
genealogists attending ex-
pert advice and guidance at
a minimum fee.
Because of the limited
space for the meeting it is
requested that those wishing
to attend make a reservation
by sending their registration
fee. which includes lunch-

This is the first time such
a workshop has been offered
in this area and is an excel-
lent opportunity for the re-
searchers in the North
