Wednesday night Ray Martin,
Waco Brown, Leslie Bullard and
Herbert Martin attended the Lin-
ger-Longer Park opening at ’ Mt.
Pleasant and while returning had
an accident which came near
proving fatal to one of the occu-
pants of the car.
It appears, from
obtainable, that a car
on the Broadway of America
Highway a few miles this side of
Mt. Pleasant with the lights
turned off and Ray 'Martin, driv-
ing his car, failed to see the park-
ed car in time to avoid striking
it.
Herbert Martin was the most
seriously injured, having Ins face
cut by glass and his collar bone
broken and perhaps other in-
juries. The other occupants of
the ear received only slight in-
juries.
Ernest Goins of Omaha passed
just after the accident and car-
ried the Martin boys to Mt. Pleas-
ant where medical aid was secur-
ed and Herbert’s wounds
dressed.
W. T. Parker went to Mt Pieas-

At last reports Herbert
resting as well as could be

We were unable to learn the
names of the parties in the park-
ies in the parked car or whether
any of them were injured.
