"Driving on icy, snow
covered, or wet roads takes
skill and patience. Drivers
need to adjust their driving
habits to weather conditions

Regional Commander of the
Texas Depan ment of Public
Safety.
Major Bell stated. "Many
accidents and deaths are
caused by driving too fast
for existing conditions and
losing conm'l of the vehicle.
Allow yourself more time to
arrive at your destination
since winter driving requires
more folkiwing and stopping
dis’ance than normal driv-
ing. If a skid occurs, do not

Major Bell emphasized

you there safely.

ease off the accelerator and
turn into the skid. If the
rear end skids right, turn
wheels to the right; if the
rear end skids left, turn the
wheels to the left. Tap your
brakes lightly, don't lock
